Gimme Your Heart, Make It Real. Or Else Forget About It.

I can tell i'm out of the "honeymoon" phase here in good ol Thailand.

I find myself used to everything. Food doesn't surprise me anymore (except for the 1,000 year old black egg I ate the other day...i'm convinced it was on fear factor. In fact, it WAS on Fear Factor)

Riding my bike around is no big deal now. Of course I can only get to a few specific places, but that's just about all I need these days.

The sites around the city are old news. I can bike past the most beautiful Wat and think nothing of it.

I'm thinkin this change in attitude is neither good or bad. Well maybe it's just a bit of both. It means that Thailand is starting to feel like home. I'm used to pulling my toothbrush out of a CLOSED ziplock bag and watching five ants crawl out of the top. I'm used to the endless bug bites and new food. I am not fazed by the 7 dogs that chase me home every night. It really is just a part of home.

But the bad is that i'm overlooking the place I only have 6 more weeks in. I'm missing the beautiful things around me because i'm "used to them" even though I know I'll miss them like crazy in a few weeks. My journal and blogging are obviously lacking because I feel like things won't be interesting to anyone. NO GOOD! I'm snapping myself out of this complacent faze ASAP!

I really don't have that much time here, i've got to soak it up while I can. The honeymoon might be over, but we are still newlyweds right? Mango sticky rice will never be overlooked in my book, and maybe that will keep bringing me back to reality. Reality that it costs less than a dollar here and at least 7 at home. Reality that i'll be home and back to school in 6 weeks. Reality that I need to breathe in all of Thailand that I can!!

And to everyone at home, Happy 4th of July!! We luckily get to celebrate still so that post should be coming up soon!

And! I'm going to the Hill Tribes for a few days. It'll be fun to be back at the place I went my second day in Thailand. This time I'll know what's going on. I've got the bucket shower down, I know the bug bites, I know how to look the chicken i'm going to eat for dinner in the eye... yeah, i've got this place DOWN!
